Drake Judo Club vs Cornwall (Team Match)

On Sunday as part of the 'Blue Ribbon' event at the Drake Birthday Bash we held a special event Cornish County Team took on a Team from Drake Judo Club

First up were the full 11 girl team

Cornwall and DJC are blessed to have some amazing girls and this proved to be the case with some extremely competitive contests and while the atmosphere was electric it was very supportive of both teams

After 11 contests Drake took the win with 6 contests to Cornwall's 5 with only one point in difference 51:50

This was then followed by the boys contests, this again was a very competitive though the scores didn't really reflect the quality and closeness of the match ups, some great Judo was on display and some very memorable throws!

Drake took the contest 8 contests to 3 (75:25 on points)

The atmosphere continued to be amazing with cheers and applause which only a team event gives,

The brand new 'Drake Challenge Trophy'' was presented to the respective Team Captains, Jessica for the girls and Callum for the boys.

Im very proud to say that i believe these contests were conducted in a spirit of respect and good nature

Thankyou so much to Cornwall Chairman Richard who accepted the idea when DJC first floated it and to the Cornish Team Manager Eva for her usual feistiness in the chair, thanks also to all the Cornish clubs who put players forward, not only from the BJA but from the BJC and the AJA too

Obviously this was our first year and for next years event we will do some things a little differently, a later arrival time for the teams will be in place.

That aside we were all extremely happy with how the event went

We are already looking forward to next year!
